Bio

As a child I was fascinated by the colors, textures and sparkle on the fabrics that my mother transformed into beautiful apparel, and created my first painting at age six…on my kindergarten teacher’s dress. At age ten, I proclaimed that my fashion drawings would appear in newspaper ads. I knew that I was meant to create, to be an artist. My training in drawing, anatomy and advertising design at the Fashion Institute of Technology was second to none. It prepared me for my lifelong career as a fashion illustrator. I created artwork for clients such as Nike, Disney, Burberry, Polo Ralph Lauren, while I taught those same skills to Parsons design students on their NY and Paris campuses. Since relocating to Arizona, I have taken painting workshops with Rosso and Agustin Vargas and taught model drawing at ASU and Mesa Community College. I’ve enjoyed seeing the evolution of my artwork and am pleased when a collector connects with one of my pieces. Sometimes they are inclined to share what moves them or even share a photo of the piece “living in their space”. I’m delighted to hear when a client frames the quick illustration I’ve created of them at one of the many Live Sketch Events I work at luxury boutiques in Scottsdale. I am fortunate to have connected with my creative side at as a child, and even more so, to have had the time to explore different facets of it in depth. My work brings me much joy. When others connect with that feeling, I feel twice blessed.

ARTIST STATEMENT:  My penchant for how fabric drapes on the female form is what motivates me to paint. Unsurprisingly, and unapologetically, my artwork is figure and fashion related. But don’t be deceived by the beauty that appears on the surface because, as we know, most women wear their armor on the inside. Underneath it all, women are resilient and unbreakable. In my artwork, that strength can be seen through their eyes and on their expressive faces.
