For this work, I experimented with the use of metal leaf and stencils to create a textured background prior to painting this pensive model. Before starting to paint the figure, I moved the panel in every direction. When I reviewed the canvas upsidedown, a silvery bow revealed itself to me. I was clear on how to place the figure and I enjoyed helping her emerge from the background.
