About the artwork
This piece is made of Leopard Wood and Yellowheart using the segmented construction technique. Individual segments are cut with a specific angle on each end so they can be glued into rings. The rings are stacked and glued into the rough form of the piece. It is then put on a lathe and turned using various wood turning tools. This piece has then been pierced with a dental drill to cut out the freehand design in the yellowheart sections of the vessel. It is turned to 1/8th of an inch so the piecing can be accomplished. It is then finished with several coats of a clear poly/oil sealer.Medium Details
