About the artwork

You never know where (and when) inspiration will come from. Case in point, my latest #mixedmedia #fashionrelated painting, “Reverie” now on display @ontheedgegallery in @oldtownscottsdale was born from a photo I took with Fuji film circa 1988. I met this amazing model in Paris while teaching #fashionillustration to students who enrolled in @parsonsschoolofdesign summer program in France. Katcha was the consummate professional, posing in drop dead gorgeous couture right off the runways of designers Balmain, Madame Grès and Patrick Kelly. For this particular class Katcha brought in lingerie for the students to sketch. She took a pose in her silk kimono that we couldn’t wait to illustrate. Here’s the transformation from photo to painting - with cigar bands used to articulate the print and faux gold leaf to make her as radiant as she was in person🥰 Merci encore et à votre santé my dear🥂
