This painting was inspired by a photo my friend took of a woman in Cuba, contentedly smoking a cigar. Her image moved me to create “Hello Sunshine” which became the first painting in my self-proclaimed “cigar series”. This piece was shown in several “In Celebration of Women” exhibitions in and around Phoenix. I loved her vibrant apparel juxtaposed against the masculine vibe of the cigar she was smoking. But mostly, I was drawn to the mischievous glint in her eyes and the smirk on her mouth.
