Butterflies in the Dark (36”x 36”/ 91.5 x 91.5cm) (c) 2004-2008 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York Hand Stitched Thread on Textile This piece features as its centerpiece, a delicately hand cross stitched image of butterflies and dragonflies flirting in foliage. This is the fourth in this series. The center is framed with black fabric and a warm yellow fabric radiates out from the piece in a diamond pattern. The piece is then completed with repeating diagonal frames of light green and then a cream fabric with Oriental writing. The piece is heavily hand quilted and in the final black border with "ghost" butterflies densely echo quilted in varying colors to coordinate with the colors in the center.
