Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York  Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Dyed Textile **Available for Purchase**   Sound Waves #10: Black Noise is continuing to move away from the static graphic lines earlier in the series and morphing into abstract pools, lightning, and splotches of color. Tones of black are taking over this piece, and the title references the absence of frequency and sounds.  Green, yellow, and fuchsia are still trying to make their presence known along with small areas of turquoise and white. Undulating waves and tight isobars of hand stitched thread in lime green, lilac, dark grey, blue, white and teal blue create interesting shadows and light play as well as emphasis the ground dye colors. The image of the back of the artwork highlights the extensive, detailed stitching. A close-up image of the front of the work shows the abstract images viewers see that flow out of the color from the dye interactions with the fabric and the shadow/light play created by the stitching.
