About the artwork

Contaminated Water #2: Pond Scum (15” x 42”/ 38 x 107cm) (c) 2010 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Dyed, Rust Pigmented Textile With Contaminated Water #2, I began letting the textile artworks flow organically. No more forcing them to be perfect squares or rectangles. I let them form into the shapes they want to be naturally. This has become another part of my artistic signature along with what I already incorporate into my work: rust pigmentation, freeform dyeing, and dense, textural hand stitching. Several more developing series I am currently working on in the studio also incorporate this organic shape quality. This is the second piece in the new textile artwork series Contaminated Water. This piece shows the effects of iron in our waterways with films and streaks of rust on the water. Densely hand stitched swirls represent the ripple effect from bugs landing and taking off from the surface of the water. The hand dyed fabric has had rust pigmentation applied. The piece is heavily hand stitched in a circular format like the first piece in this series. It has an irregular finish on the bottom edge. This artwork can be displayed in a vertical or horizontal orientation. **Contact Artist for relevant shipping charges to Buyer's location.**
