A dear friend who still lives in the wilds of Scotland shot this view from a drone of a river in a valley. Scenes from Scotland are very inspiring to me because of the vast distances they convey. In such a space the sun has the ability of illuminate in patches, and to accommodate more than one weather condition. We watch as a both the jewel tones of sunlight dance in the scene while an ominous wall of rain advances into the scene. For me this painting was very quick to paint because I painted loosely to simply convey the shape of the image. This painting uses very gentle graduations of my favourite colour – periwinkle.
It is my hope this shimmering scene finds a wall to do it justice!
