Bio

My artistic journey has been a lifelong commitment to slowing down and observing the world with intention. This philosophy was shaped by my formal art studies, which began in 2000 with intensive, full-time training at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. There, I immersed myself in foundational principles of art, learning linear perspective and drawing from the live model. For the next decade, I continued to hone my skills through weekend and evening classes at the Manifest Drawing Center, participated in weekly figure drawing sessions and took sabbaticals to study in Florence and Rome, Italy.

From the soulful expression of a dancer to the quiet vulnerability in a portrait, my early work focused on capturing the deep emotion and spirit of each subject. In the past two years, I have applied this same careful eye to the quiet narratives within still life and floral arrangements. In this work, with its brighter colors and more painterly approach, I sought to break away from detail and become more expressive.

Today, my work is undergoing another transformation with my new series, Postcards from the American West. These small, daily paintings are a commitment to capturing the magnificent landscapes around me with a more painterly hand. This journey has transformed my process, allowing me to balance my detailed training with a new freedom of expression.
