Lorraine Watry was born in 1964 in Boise, Idaho and grew up in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1987. Lorraine is well known as a realist painter of birds, still lifes and waterscapes. She loves to create paintings with a theme of reflections and refractions.
Lorraine is the current president of the National Watercolor Society. She is a signature member of many professional societies, including the National Watercolor Society, American Women Artists and the Rocky Mountain National Watercolor Society. Lorraine is proud to be a juried member of the International Guild of Realism and the Society of Animal Artists. Her multi award-winning paintings have been juried into eighty-five plus national and international exhibits, including exhibitions in the United States, Canada, Italy, Scotland, China and Taiwan.
In 1999, Lorraine started teaching watercolor at a local community college. She enjoys instructing watercolor classes and workshops across the US and online. Lorraine works with students as far away as Canada, England and Australia. She is a Master Artist mentor with Mastrius (based out of Canada). Lorraine is an invited exhibition juror for watercolor societies and art groups.
Lorraine’s watercolors are published in the Best of Watercolor: Splash 14, 20, 23, 24. She has written articles for the International Artist Magazine, and appeared in The Artist Magazine and Pratique des Arts.
