Bio

By the age of four, Jen was already immersed in drawing and painting in her hometown of Hilton, a small community in upstate New York. After her family relocated to Florida, she continued to nurture her artistic talents. Jen went on to earn a degree in Graphic Design, which led her to explore several creative fields, including shoe design, product development, and graphic design. Yet, her enduring passion for painting continually resurfaced. In 2002, Jen accepted a position as a painter for an art company, where she created over a thousand original works. Her designs were mass-produced and sold through major retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Bed Bath & Beyond, Rooms To Go, and Z Gallerie. During this time, she also continued to develop her personal body of work, exhibiting regularly in art shows across the region. It was through these experiences that Jen recognized the need to take a leap of faith and dedicate herself fully to fine art. Inspired by seeing Nelson Shanks’ work on the cover of American Artist magazine, Jen committed herself to pursuing classical training. She was accepted into the full-time program at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania—an institution founded by Nelson and Leona Shanks and dedicated to the traditions of classical Italian realism. Jen completed the four-year certificate program with distinction and was awarded a teaching fellowship, serving as a core instructor at the school. In the winter of 2011, Jen returned to Florida, where she continues to paint and teach, sharing her knowledge and passion with others. She is currently developing a new body of work for a future solo exhibition while creating commissioned portraits for private clients.
