Artist and illustrator Dan Remmel has spent a lifetime creating paintings and murals with uncommon versatility. Before settling on acrylics as his predominant medium, Dan has worked in oils, watercolor, pastel and pen & ink. His technique varies from photo-realism to more loosely painted whimsical fantasy; blending mythological elements, remarkable detail and sweeping imagination. Born in 1959 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dan has travelled the world photographing and painting a wide array of subject matter. He has produced a substantial body of work depicting the landscapes, animals, architecture and people he has encountered. His paintings range in size from miniatures to large scale murals in schools, businesses and private collections. In the 1990’s, Dan was the primary illustrator for One Planet, an internationally distributed wildlife t-shirt manufacturer. At the same time, he started his own business painting murals in houses, Doctor’s offices and in the 2000’s moving on to paint massive carnival rides. He also spent 2004-6 in Ireland showing paintings in Dublin and Galway and winning the 2005 Curfew Tower Award in Cushendal, N. Ireland. Dan’s work has appeared three times in International Artist magazine, and twice in American Art Collector magazine. In 2020 alone, his work was awarded in two national juried competitions and he took 1st place in the Artsarasota Onward and Upward competition. Since then he has shown and sold paintings in the Palm Beach Cultural Council spring 2022 show and in their 2023 Biennial.
