Andrew Wieland (b. 1988, Oak Park, IL, USA) is a painter based in Nashville, Tennessee. His work seeks to utilize classical technique within a contemporary context, and join in carrying forward the rich tradition of Western art in subjects such as portraiture, still life, and florals. Building on lifelong passions for studio art, music, sports, and theater, and a prior career farming in his native Midwest, Wieland began training with renowned artist and educator, Juliette Aristides (Seattle, WA). Under Aristides’ direction, he studied a traditional atelier curriculum, which focused on a classical approach to drawing and painting. He developed a love and respect for classical art and an appreciation for a rigorous approach to representational painting, working primarily in oil paint and other traditional media. He concluded his formal studies in 2024 and now paints full-time from his studio in Nashville, where he lives with his wife and dog. Wieland is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago (B.A. 2014).
