This painting was born out of a sad longing for a place I used to know well. All these feeling welled up when I saw the beautiful photos of a dear friend. We used to be neighbours in a little off-grid peninsula called Scoraig in the North of Scotland. When my friend, Andrew Whiskins, gave the go ahead to use his photo as inspiration, I immediately began painting the broad palette of subtle lavender, periwinkle and celadon hues. I wanted to capture the iridescence or early sunrise over the water. scene. Scotland is mysterious, haunting and dramatic.
I hope this scene finds a large wall somewhere to bring pizzazz to.
